Return to album listDia del Niño Ecuador has a holiday like Mother’s Day/Father’s Day called Children’s Day. Every year, the ministry we help with, FACES, hosts a special event to allow the children who normally work in the streets each day to experience a playful day free from work. To accomplish this, volunteers from local churches (upper class) take the place of the kids. They shine shoes and sell candy in the streets to earn the money that child needs for the day while the children get to have a day of fun.
The kids had to teach the teenagers how to do their job for the day.

The kids were allowed to ride 3 rides at the amusement park. For most of them this is the first time to ever see anything like this.

I have a HUGE fear of heights – cable cars are at the TOP of that list! Everyone kept making jokes about us falling, etc. It was made worse that part of our group DID get stuck on the lines for 45 min because of a power failure. Thank goodness that was not me!

We ended the day with a worship service as the teenagers came together to give the kids their earnings for the day. A beautiful example of God’s Kingdom working together!
